Responsibilities As an Applications Software Engineer, you will be based in Ireland Software development team to deliver best-in-class Security, Networking and Wireless Applications for Intel Architecture (IA) based leading-edge embedded processors to drive the next generation of Intel communication devices on evolving (SDN) Software Defined Networking architecture. You will be based in Ireland as a member of a talented team of software developers and will have the opportunity to work with teams across the globe using Agile software development methodologies. Required Skills: - Honours degree, Masters or PhD, in a programming discipline, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Maths etc., or proven programming track record in industry. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a global team. - Strong problem solving skills coupled with a strong aptitude to learn and innovate. - Excellent knowedge of C or C++ or Python programming, with strong development experience of Intel Architecture/x86 or other multi-core processer - Linux development experience - Performance benchmarking and application optimization experience Experience in application software development in one or more of the following Domains would be advantageous: - Software Defined Networks (SDN), e.g. OpenStack, Openflow, OpenDaylight, Quantum, Nox, Ryu, Floodlight etc, Experience developing Security Applications and Appliances in the Cloud -Embedded Software Development, RT, (Real Time Operating Systems), IPC (inter-process communications), troubleshooting and debugging skills. - Experience in programming for communications and related protocols, e.g. Ethernet, TCP/IP, ISCSI, Wireless protocols , Switching and Routing - Security applications (IPS/IDS, Firewall, IPSEC, Open SSL, etc.). - Experience analysing complex software systems and de-composing into an architecture view - Virtualisation and Containers - application development on KVM, XEN, QEMU or VMWARE, LXC, Docker. - Knowledge of Web Server Development and integration (Apache). Software Engineer – Customer Solutions Job Description: Based in Shannon, Ireland you will have the opportunity to work with major European telecoms companies as well as Intel marketing, development and architecture teams across the globe. This role is focused on providing software support to major European customers with deployments on Intel Architecture (IA) platforms. The core solutions we are focused on solutions for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking. The successful candidate will work on engineer to engineer engagements with customers to understand their business priorities and assist them in developing solutions to move towards virtualized solutions. The creation and execution of proof of concept projects to support new technologies is a large part of the role. We're looking for an experienced software engineer to prototype and incubate advanced concepts coming out of CTO’s office and architecture group. In this role you will collaborate with a small team of architects and engineers to iteratively prototype new ideas and concepts. Our challenges involve prototyping from abstract requirements and working with nascent (not fully developed) open source technologies. We are looking for an individual with broad experience developing systems software in cloud environment. In this role, you will play a critical role in developing RIFT.io networking platform. RESPONSIBILITIES • Investigate new technologies and make recommendations • Develop iterative prototypes to assess technical feasibility. • Collaborate with architecture team to make technology recommendations. • Collaborate with engineering team to productize viable prototypes. REQUIRED SKILLS • 3-5 years experience in a principal engineer role • Experience developing systems software • Hands on development experience in multiple languages including C and Python. • Experience with cloud technologies such as OpenStack. • MS or BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
